element - psychophenomenon
(Self released - 2003)
ELEMENT from Poland play awesome Death Metal similar in the style of PESTILENCE except that while PESTILENCE use a synth guitar these guys use an actual synthesizer but it´s done really well. They also remind me of NOCTURNUS, maybe some old VOIVOD or at times fellow countrymen DECAPITATED. Even though I´ve provided some points of reference they are copies of no one and have their own unique thing going. Aside from the traditional Death Metal elements: growling vocals, blasting drums and aggressive riffs these guys have a sort of "avantgarde" approach. I don´t mean the boring avantgarde stuff like you´d find on The End Records but an approach where they insert new ideas into a regular Death Metal formula and it works damn well. It´s exciting the whole duration of the disc and you won´t find a boring moment on here ! I´m getting repetative but I gotta say this is a really great and varietized disc that has fast as hell, adrenaline surging songs and then some that are slowed down with an almost Progressive Metal approach. I HIGHLY recommend checking ELEMENT out. Someone sign them because they´re the best kept secret in Poland right now !
Recommended tracks: all.
